Daniel H. Kress was a Canadian physician, Seventh-day Adventist missionary and anti-smoking activist. He was born Daniel Hartman Cress on 27 June 1862 and died on 2 November 1956.
He presented himself as a vegetarian and also linked his public work with the promotion of a smoke-free lifestyle. He worked as a physician and Adventist missionary.
He advocated a vegan diet on religious grounds. Following health problems, he began promoting a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet.
He claimed that eating meat shortened life expectancy. His views on diet thus stemmed from both religious convictions and his health arguments.
