Carrotka is a project preparing and delivering vegetarian lunches that has operated since the beginning of 2017. Vegan and gluten-free dishes also appear on the menu. The project is intended primarily for people interested in an alternative, healthier way of eating.
It emphasises high-quality ingredients in its cooking. It avoids products containing palm oil, does not use white sugar and sweetens primarily with honey or cane sugar. It uses olive and coconut oil, favours baking over frying and thickens sauces with ingredients such as cornflour, a pea-based thickener or rice flour.
An important part of the project is its effort to use more environmentally friendly packaging. Lunches are delivered in returnable plastic containers or disposable compostable boxes made from sugar cane. Customers can also use their own containers.
Deliveries take place in Kuřim between 11 a.m. and noon. The menu for the following week is published by Sunday at the latest, and meals can be ordered in advance. Carrotka currently operates on a limited schedule because of parental leave, cooking on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
