Sarah Silverman is an American stand-up comedian, actress and writer. She became known for satire that addresses social taboos and controversial subjects, including racism, sexism, religion and politics, often through a deliberately provocative stage persona.
She was born in Concord, New Hampshire, in 1970. She came to wider attention as a writer and cast member on Saturday Night Live during the 1993–1994 season. She later created and produced The Sarah Silverman Program, which aired on Comedy Central from 2007 to 2010.
Alongside stand-up, she appeared in School of Rock, Take This Waltz, A Million Ways to Die in the West and Battle of the Sexes. She also voiced Vanellope in Wreck-It Ralph and Ralph Breaks the Internet. She received major acting nominations for both her series and her dramatic role in I Smile Back, and published the autobiography The Bedwetter.
She became vegetarian at the age of ten. Her personal page presents this as a long-standing part of her life without describing any later dietary changes in greater detail.
