Adelaide Johnson was an American sculptor and feminist who devoted her work to the cause of women's equality. She was nicknamed the “sculptor of the women's movement”.
She was born in 1859 and died in 1955. Her work focused on figures and themes associated with the advancement of women's rights.
Her works are displayed in the United States Capitol. She is therefore among the artists whose work is directly connected with the history of the American women's movement.
