Paul Waggoner is an American guitarist, songwriter and founding member of the progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me. He is known for technically demanding guitar playing and his contribution to the band’s extensive concept albums.
He comes from North Carolina. In 2000, he founded Between the Buried and Me with drummer Jason Roeder and other musicians from the local metal scene. The group gradually built an international audience by combining metal, progressive rock, hardcore and other genres.
Waggoner contributed to the albums Colors, The Great Misdirect, The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues, Coma Ecliptic and Automata. Alongside the band, he also performs in Glass Casket. His playing is associated with shifting arrangements, technical precision and the ability to combine heavy riffs with melodic passages.
