Chloe Temtchine is an American singer, songwriter and speaker whose music spans pop and soul. Alongside her music career, her public story is connected with severe lung disease and her return to the stage after a double lung transplant.
She comes from New York’s Upper East Side and studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. As a child, her father took her to a Baptist church in Harlem, where she was introduced to gospel music. She released her debut album Between Day & Dream in 2009.
With the song Step Up, she won both the national and international Avon songwriting competitions in 2011, and the song was used in a television advertisement. She also appeared as a backing singer for Ne-Yo on Late Night with David Letterman. Her 2015 album Be Brave was produced by Toby Gad and was downloaded more than 150,000 times in its first ninety days.
She had experienced breathing difficulties since 2008. In 2013, she was diagnosed with the rare pulmonary veno-occlusive disease and severe pulmonary hypertension. Following a cardiac arrest in August 2020, she spent 21 days on life support and underwent a double lung transplant. In February 2021, she performed publicly for the first time since the procedure, despite singing with a paralysed vocal cord.
